SPA
The term “spa” in Taiwan is interlinked with three major categories of services. Sauna, water spa, and massage spa. Whether it is treatment for muscle soreness, aching bones, beautiful skin, slimming, or simply a treatment for stress-relief and relaxation, spa is said to have natural healing effects.
While sauna refers to steam rooms that use heat and water moisture for body treatments, another type of spa in Taiwan is the water spa where pressured water is used as a form of treatment and massage. The most commonly known form of spa is the massage spa where bodily massages are performed by a masseur or masseuse. There are different forms and techniques for different treatments when it comes to massages, and it can be performed to the head, face, neck, hands, feet, or the entire body. Among massage therapies, the foot massage is the most popular traditional folk therapy to release stress in Taiwan.
