Fo Guang Shan Monastery

Based in Taiwan, Venerable Master Hsing Yun founded Fo Guang Shan Monastery in 1967, located in the west of Kaoping River. Fo Guang Shan is headquarter in Taiwan and supports temples worldwide, since 2001 the monastery opened to the public, it became a leisure tourism and pure land to promote culture living. The architecture are composited with four main temples: Great Compassionate Shrine, Great Wisdom Shrine, Great Vow Shrine and Great Practice Shrine, the most represent icon is the golden Buddha statue, at the height of 120 meters, surrounded by 480 smaller golden Buddha statues shines under the sun gloriously.

No. 1 National Highway (國道一號): Qishan Interchange (旗山交流道) -> No. 186 County Road (186縣道) -> Linkou (嶺口) -> No. 31 Provincial Highway (台21線) -> Linkou Bridge (嶺口橋) -> Fo Guang Shan Monastery (佛光山)
By Bus:
1. Take Kaohsiung Bus (高雄客運) bound for Qishan (旗山), Meinong (美濃), Jiaxian (甲仙), or Liugui (六龜) to Fo Guang Shan Monastery (佛光山).
2. Take Fo Guang Shan Monastery shuttle bus from Fo Guang Shan Taipei Vihara (佛光山台北道場) or Pumen Temple (普門寺) to Fo Guang Shan Monastery (佛光山). Please contact Fo Guang Shan Monastery in advance for shuttle service hours.
