With an altitude of one thousand and nine hundred meters, Cueifong Lake is the largest alpine lake in Taiwan. Located between Mt. Taiping and Mt. Dayuan, the lake covers an area of twenty hectares with clear and unpolluted water. Unlike the ecosystems of other lakes, Cueifong Lake has its water source from nearby mountain chains. As a reserved forest area, visitors are required to own a Class B Forest Entry Permit before entries to enjoy the beauties. They may apply for the entry permit at the check point of Taipingshan.
The unspoiled nature beauties surrounded Cueifong Lake offer fantastic views of rarest bird species and enriched phytoncide. It takes about a forty minutes ride (seventeen kilometers approximate) from Mt. Taipingshan to reach the lake. There are restrictions for entries of vehicles, all vehicles have to comply with entry time and cautions when driving through a five kilometers of pebble road when entering the area. Cueifong Lake is an excellent preserved area with abundant precious ecosystems and beautiful views.
